Hassan Almutory has been named as the Nashville man Police say was killed in a targeted shooting along Interstate 24 in south Nashville early Wednesday morning.
Almutory, 22, and an unidentified 18-year-old woman, had reportedly just left the Deja Vu club in downtown Nashville and were driving on I-24 East when someone opened fire from another vehicle. Almutory was struck in the head. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The female was shot in the arm and is expected to make a full recovery.

Almutory’s Ford Edge crashed into a concrete barrier on the exit ramp to Briley Parkway around 3:30 a.m. When police responded to the crash, they discovered the vehicle had bullet holes on the outside. When they checked the car, they found Almutory and the woman inside the vehicle. source
Police spoke to the woman for her account of the shooting but said her information didn’t line up with reports from other witnesses.
According to police, Almutory had previous convictions for reckless homicide, unlawful gun possession and drug possession. He had just received a nine-year sentence in May for charges stemming from a 2016 arrest.
