If you’ve ever checked out Google Earth you may have noticed that it isn’t always made up of the most up-to-date pictures. Google uses tons of images to quilt together one huge and complete picture of earth, it’s safe to say it’s an ongoing process.
Knowing that, I didn’t really find it surprising that Google Earth still pictures Japan’s Fukushima Power plant in its heyday with not as much as a scratch. This had to simply be an old picture of the nuclear plant, before it was destroyed by a 9.0 earthquake and a resulting tsunami, right? Wrong! On closer inspection, the area surrounding the plant IS heavily devastated while the plant itself stands untouched! Did someone at Google edit out the damaged plant and replace it with a plant in pre-tsunami condition? Um, yeah, they did… But why would Google do this? I have no idea, do you?
