Sheryl Sandberg says Peter Thiel will stay on Facebook’s board during an onstage chat at a technology conference Wednesday.
Sandberg, responding to questions from tech journalist Kara Swisher, said that fellow Facebook director, billionaire Thiel, will remain on the board.
“I know this has been actively discussed here and it should be actively discussed, because issues of independence and the media are key to democracy and key to all of us,” she said. “Peter did what he did on his own, not as a Facebook board member. We didn’t know about it.” h/t wp
Sandberg’s response follows days of criticism and questions over what Facebook would say about the issue. In op-eds, some journalists and corporate governance advisers had said Thiel should step down from Facebook’s board or that Zuckerberg should ask him to resign.
“If Zuckerberg does ultimately allow Thiel to stay on the board, you’ll know how the CEO — who holds absolute control over the world’s most-powerful media company — feels about the free press,” wrote technology writer Dan Gillmor at Slate.
A sick video has surfaced on the internet showing an unidentified man urinating on a Kellogg‘s cereal conveyor belt in Memphis. The man is believed to be a Kellogg employee.
The video, which we will not show here, depicts a male worker unabashedly peeing on the popular breakfast cereal as it whizzes by (pun intended) on a machine belt.
“Kellogg takes this situation very seriously and we were shocked and deeply disappointed by this video that we just learned of today. We immediately alerted law enforcement authorities and regulators. Continue reading
If you do a quick check on social media on the leading conspiracy theory about Antonin Scalia’s death, you’ll find that a growing number of folks think Obama had something to do with it.
Scalia’s sudden death at 79 puts the Court’s conservative majority in serious jeopardy and that fact has fueled speculation among the tinfoil hat crowd. The same crazies that seems to be so right so often these days.
If President Obama’s eventual nominee somehow gets confirmed this year, which is no sure thing, the court will have five Democrat-appointed justices to the four picked by Republican presidents. Continue reading
The remote West Texas ranch where Antonin Scalia was found dead Saturday is a 5-star resort that once was a group of forts used by 19th Century cattle barons to fend off attacks by Apaches and thieves.
Cibolo Creek Ranch was bought by Houston billionaire John Poindexter in 1990 and renovated into a luxury 33-room resort with a private airstrip. It’s located about 30 miles south of Marfa, or about 440 miles west of San Antonio. h/t mysanantonio
Beyonce is being threatened with a boycott on the heels of her cop bashing Super Bowl halftime performance.
Among other things, the performance featured a tribute to the Black Panthers as well as the Black Lives Matter movement, leaving many viewers confused and upset.
Of course Jay Z’s wife’s new song Formation addresses the movement, but her dancers definitely paid their respects by donning outfits, including berets like those worn by members of the Black Panthers. Continue reading

It was recently revealed that former U.S. president Richard Nixon suggested Donald Trump run for office 30 years ago in the form of a personal letter.

After being referred to by a Spanish radio host as, “El hombre del peluquín,” translated, “the man with the toupee,” Donald Trump, speaking at today’s campaign stop at the TD Convention Center in Greenville Upstate, invited a random woman on stage to inspect the hair and finally put those hair-raising rumors to rest.
Trump, who has adamantly denied wearing any hair support, (with the exception of hair spray,) bowed to the woman for a quick look-see. (See video below.)
“You have to do an inspection because this is getting crazy,” Trump said. Continue reading
