REPORT: 80 children on doomed Malaysian plane

UN Under-Secretary-General Jeffrey Feltman on Friday told the Security Council that 80 children were on board Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, according to ABC News. The plane was shot down Thursday near the Russia-Ukraine border, killing all 298 people on board.

Grief stricken family members of Malaysian flight MH370 are demanding some kind of tangible proof that the plane crashed in the Indian Ocean and sunk to a depth of 23,000 feet..


A flotation device washing up on shore, a buoyant case full of beauty products, a mini-cart and all those little bottles of booze, anything. The families are demanding some kind of evidence be produced before they give up all hope that their loved ones are indeed dead.

All Right Good Night: Pilot’s Last Words Came AFTER Tracking Systems Disabled

The pilot, speaking to Malaysian air traffic controllers, did not hint at any trouble.

Commercial passenger planes use radio or satellite signals to send data through ACARS — the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System — which can monitor engines and other equipment for problems that may need attention when a plane lands. Although officials have said ACARS was disabled on the missing plane, it had previously been unclear whether the system stopped functioning before or after the captain of the plane radioed his last, brief words to Kuala Lumpur, in which he did not indicate anything wrong with the signals system or the plane as a whole. “Apparently on Chinese social media (i.e. netizens), there is a photo of a passengers list which includes all passenger names and information. On this picture, the name of passenger 84 is blurred out. Apparently the rumour among the netizens is that Passenger 84 is Uyghur, an ethnic group in China.”

Authorities are somewhat aggressively investigating several reports of fisherman claiming to have seen the lights of a low-flying aircraft in an area off the Malaysian coast, just below the Malay-Thai border at around the same time of the disappearance.
