NE Pilot Rick Boardman ID’d As Victim In Thursday Hamilton Fatal Plane Crash

HAMILTON COUNTY, NE. (THECOUNT) — Rick Boardman, 61, of Henderson, Nebraska, has been identified as the victim in a fatal plane crash Thursday night in Hamilton County, Nebraska.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified at approximately 9:12 p.m. on June 11 of a plane crash near 5th and X Roads in Hamilton County.

Emergency responders from Hamilton and York Counties, along with Henderson Fire Department and Aurora Ambulance, responded to the scene.

Authorities said Boardman, the pilot of the aircraft, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials noted Boardman was a past president and valued board member of the Nebraska Aviation Trades Association Board of Directors.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office issued condolences to Boardman’s family following the fatal crash.

The crash occurred in rural Hamilton County in central Nebraska, an area characterized by agricultural land and sparsely populated road networks between small communities such as Aurora and Henderson. The region includes open terrain commonly used for farming operations and general aviation activity.

Henderson, where Boardman resided, is located in York County approximately 15 miles south of the crash site and serves as a small agricultural community within central Nebraska’s farming region.

5th and X Roads is a rural intersection area in Hamilton County where county roads intersect through farmland and open agricultural fields. The location is part of a network of local roads commonly used for farming access and rural travel.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will handle the investigation into the cause of the crash.
