Update: KS Couple Shared ‘Premeditated Plan’ In Horror Killing Of Four Children Say Cops

WINFIELD, KS. (THECOUNT) — A Kansas couple reportedly shared a “premeditated plan” to kill their four children before taking their own lives in a horrific Winfield, Kansas, shooting that left all six family members, including four children, dead, according to newly released findings from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Ronald Williams Sr., 53, and Kelly L. George, 44, were among the six people found dead Tuesday, Aug. 11, inside a residence in the 400 block of West Ninth Avenue in Winfield, a city in Cowley County in south-central Kansas.

Investigators uncovered documentation showing that George purchased a Taurus .38 Special revolver in February 2025. The same firearm was recovered at the scene following Tuesday’s shootings. The KBI did not publicly detail all of the evidence supporting its conclusion regarding George’s involvement in the plan.

The four children killed in the shooting were identified as 3-year-old Kelly, 7-year-old Ronald Jr., 5-year-old Sarah and 9-year-old Carol.

According to the KBI, investigators do not believe an argument or physical altercation occurred immediately before the killings. Instead, evidence gathered during the investigation indicates Williams and George jointly developed what agents described as “premeditated plans” to kill their four children and then themselves.

Authorities said there is currently no evidence indicating that anyone other than Williams and George was responsible for the deaths.

The KBI also revealed that Williams and George had reportedly displayed increasingly erratic behavior before the shooting.

Investigators described a pattern of what they characterized as nonsensical statements made to law enforcement officers, neighbors and other people in the Winfield community.

The new information provides additional details about the circumstances surrounding one of the deadliest incidents in Winfield’s recent history, while investigators continue working to establish a complete timeline of events leading up to the shootings.

Authorities have not indicated a specific motive beyond the apparent plan involving the children and subsequent deaths of Williams and George.

The KBI said its investigation remains active and that agents will continue examining evidence and information gathered from the scene and surrounding circumstances.

Once the investigation is completed, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation will present its findings to the Cowley County Attorney’s Office for review.

The agency emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that the findings released so far represent the evidence developed to this point.
