UVALDE COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Uvalde School Police Chief, Pedro “Pete” Arredondo, has resigned from his post on the city council, a local newspaper reported Saturday.
Arredondo, whose delayed response to the mass shooting at Uvalde Robb Elementary School has been widely criticized, was sworn on the city council days after the horrific event.
“After much consideration, I regret to inform those who voted for me that I have decided to step down as a member of the city council for District 3,” Arredondo told the Uvalde Leader-News. “The mayor, the city council, and the city staff must continue to move forward without distractions.”
