‘Starship Troopers’ Star Patrick Muldoon Dead At 57 After Collapsing At Beverly Hills Home

BEVERLY HILLS, CA. (THECOUNT) — Patrick Muldoon, an actor best known for his roles on television and in film including “Days of Our Lives,” “Melrose Place,” and “Starship Troopers,” has died following a reported heart attack, according to multiple reports.

Muldoon was 57. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to information confirmed by family members, the incident occurred Sunday morning at a residence in Beverly Hills.

Muldoon had been at home after having coffee with his girlfriend before going to shower, family members said. Concern arose when he remained in the bathroom for an extended period. He was later found unresponsive on the floor. Emergency responders were called to the residence and attempted lifesaving measures, but he could not be revived.

Officials have not released additional details regarding the exact medical timeline. The reported cause of death is a heart attack, though formal confirmation from the medical examiner has not been publicly detailed.

Muldoon was a Los Angeles native who began his acting career while still attending college. One of his earliest television appearances included a role on the sitcom “Who’s the Boss?” before securing a recurring part as Jeffrey Hunter on “Saved by the Bell.”

He later rose to prominence portraying Austin Reed on the daytime soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” a role he held from 1992 to 1995 and reprised from 2011 to 2012.

Muldoon also gained recognition for his role as Richard Hart on the primetime drama “Melrose Place,” appearing in multiple seasons during the series’ run.

In addition to his television work, Muldoon appeared in several films. He is widely recognized for portraying Zander Barcalow in the 1997 science fiction film “Starship Troopers.”

His film credits also include roles in “Deadlock” (2021), “Vanquish” (2021), “Dakota” (2022), “Marlowe” (2022), and “Murder At Hollow Creek” (2023). His final film, “Dirty Hands,” is expected to be released later this year.

Muldoon was also working as an executive producer on a film currently in production titled “Kockroach,” which reportedly features a cast including Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, and Zazie Beetz.

Beverly Hills is located in Los Angeles County and is part of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, a region known as a major center for the entertainment industry where Muldoon built much of his career.

No further official details have been released at this time.
