‘All That’ Star Christy Knowings Dies At 46 After Medical Emergency

LOS ANGELES, CA. (THECOUNT) — Christy Knowings, the actress and comedian best known for her work on Nickelodeon’s “All That,” has died at 46 after suffering an asthma attack that resulted in brain damage, according to information provided by her family.

During her three seasons on “All That,” Knowings portrayed numerous characters and became particularly recognizable for her recurring roles as Penny Lane and Jessica in the “Whateverrr!!!” sketch alongside Amanda Bynes.

Knowings was hospitalized Friday following the medical emergency and was placed on life support, according to a family member. She remained on life support through Tuesday, when her family made the decision to remove her from the machines. She died Tuesday night at a Los Angeles-area hospital.

Knowings became a familiar face to Nickelodeon viewers after joining “All That” in 1997. Before landing a regular role on the sketch-comedy series, she appeared on “And Now This,” a Rosie O’Donnell sketch-comedy special produced by Nickelodeon.

The Nickelodeon series, which featured a rotating cast of young performers in sketches and musical segments, became one of the network’s signature programs during the 1990s and early 2000s. Knowings was part of the cast during a period when the show helped launch the careers of several performers who went on to become prominent actors and entertainers.

Following her time on “All That,” Knowings continued appearing in television programming. She appeared in three episodes of “Sesame Street,” including appearances alongside her real-life twin brother, Chris Knowings.

Knowings also pursued music during her career and released the folk single “To the World.”

Her death marks the second loss of a former “All That” cast member in 2026. Kianna Underwood, another former cast member, died in January after she was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Brooklyn, according to previous reports.

Knowings’ family has not publicly disclosed additional details about the asthma attack or the resulting brain injury beyond the information provided regarding her hospitalization and death.

Knowings’ work on “All That” made her part of a generation of performers who became closely associated with Nickelodeon’s influential sketch-comedy programming. Her appearances on the series remain among her best-known television work.
