OH Teen Ryan Hayes ID’d As Victim In Sunday Chillicothe Fatal Motorcycle Crash

CHILLICOTHE, OH. (THECOUNT) — Ryan Hayes has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash Sunday night in Ross County, Ohio, according to authorities. Hayes was 19.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers responded at approximately 8:10 p.m. Sunday to a reported two-vehicle collision at the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and Veterans Parkway in Scioto Township, located just west of the city of Chillicothe.

Investigators say a 2022 Hyundai Palisade was traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 50 and attempted to make a left turn onto Veterans Parkway. At the same time, a 2001 Honda VT750 motorcycle operated by Hayes was traveling westbound on U.S. Route 50.

Authorities said the motorcycle struck the left front side of the Hyundai during the turning movement.

Following the impact, the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway. Hayes sustained critical injuries in the crash.

Emergency responders transported Hayes to Chillicothe Adena Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The driver of the Hyundai was not injured. Authorities have not released the driver’s identity and have not announced whether any charges or citations are being considered.

The crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and Veterans Parkway, a roadway junction that serves local and regional traffic in the Chillicothe area within Ross County, located in south-central Ohio.

Chillicothe is the county seat of Ross County and lies along the Scioto River, serving as a regional hub for surrounding communities and connected by several major highways including U.S. Route 50.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. Officials have not released additional details regarding contributing factors.
