LOWNDES COUNTY, MS. (THECOUNT) — John Clardy, 57, of Alabama, was killed Thursday when the Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was riding collided with a Range Rover at an intersection in Columbus, Mississippi, according to authorities.
According to the Lowndes County Coroner’s Office, Clardy was riding a 2010 Harley-Davidson when it collided with a 2015 Range Rover at the intersection of Military Road and Black Creek Road in Columbus.
Investigators said the Range Rover was traveling westbound on Military Road and was attempting to turn left onto Black Creek Road.
At the same time, Clardy was traveling eastbound on Military Road on the motorcycle and entered the curve near the intersection, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
The motorcycle and SUV then collided in the intersection. Clardy suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Range Rover suffered minor injuries. Authorities did not release additional information about that driver’s condition.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
