SC Man David Smith III ID’d As Victim In Sunday Beech Island Fatal Harley Crash

BEECH ISLAND, SC. (THECOUNT) — David Smith III has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash Sunday night in Aiken County, South Carolina, according to officials.

Smith was 52.

According to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred April 19 at approximately 10:45 p.m. along Sand Bar Ferry Road at Laurie Drive in Beech Island, a community located in western Aiken County near the South Carolina-Georgia state line.

Officials say Smith, a resident of Beech Island, was operating a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Sand Bar Ferry Road when it collided with the trailer of a semi-truck that was in the process of turning.

The collision resulted in fatal injuries to Smith. He was pronounced dead at approximately 11:20 p.m. at the scene by responding personnel.
