HOUSTON, TX. (THECOUNT) — Anabel Lopez has been arrested in the murder of her boyfriend, Oscar Alvarado, after informing police Monday that the teen had accidentally shot himself.
Lopez, 17, was arrested Wednesday and charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of her boyfriend, Alvarado, also 17.
Houston Police were dispatched to a call of shots fired at a home on Jenikay Lane, in Houston, TX, on Monday morning.
When investigators arrived, they say Alvarado was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.
Deputies say Lopez first claimed Alvarado shot himself accidentally while playing with a gun, reports ABC13.
Lopez later claimed that she was the one playing with the gun when it accidentally discharged, fatally striking Alvarado.
Authorities did not comment on a possible motive in the shooting or whether or not it was accidental.
Lopez was transported to jail and is awaiting processing.
