Friends of Colorado Springs woman, Melvia Beery, who was killed in a fiery wreck on I-25 on Wednesday, took to social media to identified and remember her.
Beery, 25, died in the crash at about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Hwy 24/MLK Bypass after she veered off the road to the right, leaving the roadway. Officers said the vehicle hit a concrete barrier and burst into flames.
Police have not released a cause for the crash. Friends said Beery was part of the racing club Project 1, which is a family of car enthusiasts with project cars. She had just celebrated her 25th birthday with friends on September 8th. They are working to hold a memorial cruise in honor of Beery, they said they are waiting for her mother to travel to Colorado Springs from out of state to join them. source
“We are all still in shock and denial. She was the most amazing woman we have all met, she definitely has a heart of gold,” said friend Brittany Nielsen.
Police and the coroner have not officially identified her and the results of an autopsy are pending.
