NC Man Joseph Crauswell ID’d As Rider In Sunday Adger Fatal Harley Crash

ADGER, AL. (THECOUNT) — William Joseph Crauswell, of Graysville, Alabama, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash May 3 in Adger, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Crauswell was 66.

The crash occurred Sunday at approximately 7:15 p.m. in the 11000 block of Camp Oliver Road in Adger, an unincorporated community located in Jefferson County. Authorities said Crauswell was operating a motorcycle along the roadway at the time of the incident.

According to officials, the motorcycle was involved in a single-vehicle collision after leaving the roadway and striking a tree. Investigators have not released additional details regarding what may have caused the motorcycle to depart the roadway.

The impact resulted in fatal injuries to Crauswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officials, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no additional injuries were reported.

Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and secured the area while an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision was initiated. Authorities have not indicated whether speed, road conditions, or other factors played a role in the crash.

Camp Oliver Road runs through a rural portion of western Jefferson County and is primarily used by local residents. The roadway features stretches of wooded terrain, narrow lanes, and limited lighting in certain areas, particularly during evening hours when visibility can be reduced.

Adger is an unincorporated community located southwest of Birmingham and is characterized by a mix of residential properties and rural landscapes. Roads in the area often include curves and elevation changes that can present challenges for motorists, particularly those traveling unfamiliar routes.

Motorcycle travel on rural roads requires careful navigation due to factors such as road surface conditions, limited shoulders, and the presence of fixed objects such as trees and utility poles located near the roadway.

Authorities continue to examine the scene and review any available evidence to determine the sequence of events leading up to the crash. No further information has been released at this time.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the crash remains under investigation.
