TX Woman Ariana Herrera ID’d As Victim In Sunday Abilene Murder-Suicide Ja’Lavion Beaver Shooter

ABILENE, TX. (THECOUNT) — Ariana Herrera, 25, of Abilene, Texas, and Ja’lavion Navea Beaver, 26, have been identified as the two individuals found dead in an apparent murder-suicide early Sunday morning outside a west Abilene nightclub, according to police.

Authorities said officers with the Abilene Police Department were dispatched at approximately 2 a.m. to a report of a shooting at Vybz, a bar located on Eplens Court in Abilene.

Upon arrival, officers located Herrera deceased inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the establishment. A second individual was found a short distance away from the vehicle and was later identified as Beaver.

According to investigators, preliminary information indicates Beaver died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities said evidence at the scene suggests that Beaver shot Herrera while she was seated inside her vehicle before turning the weapon on himself.

Police reported that Herrera and Beaver were estranged boyfriend and girlfriend at the time of the incident. No additional individuals were reported to be involved, and no other injuries were sustained.

Emergency responders secured the scene as detectives began processing evidence and interviewing potential witnesses. The area surrounding the parking lot was temporarily restricted while investigators worked to determine the sequence of events leading up to the shooting.

The Abilene Police Department has not released additional details regarding the events immediately preceding the incident. Authorities have also not confirmed whether any prior calls for service or incidents involving the individuals had occurred at the location.

Vybz is a nightlife establishment located on Eplens Court in west Abilene, an area known for a mix of commercial businesses and late-night activity. The location is frequented by local patrons during weekend hours, particularly in the early morning timeframe when the incident occurred.

Law enforcement officials continue to review evidence collected at the scene, including physical evidence and any available surveillance footage, as part of the ongoing investigation.

The Abilene Police Department confirmed the case remains under active investigation. No further information has been released at this time.
