MD Man Harry Washington ID’d As Rider In Monday Bryans Road Fatal Motorcycle Crash

CHARLES COUNTY, MD. (THECOUNT) — Harry Washington III, 32, of Indian Head, Maryland, has been identified as the victim in a two-vehicle fatal motorcycle crash, involving a child, Monday night in Charles County, according to Maryland State Police. Jose Osmin Orellana Santamaria, 43, of White Plains, was identified as a passenger in the involved vehicle. He initially fled the scene along with the unidentified driver.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. on May 4 at Maryland Route 210 and Jenkins Lane. Troopers from the La Plata Barrack responded to the scene following reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle.

Authorities said Washington was operating a Suzuki motorcycle with his 9-year-old daughter as a passenger. Both were transported by aviation to local hospitals following the crash.

According to investigators, an orange 2013 Dodge Dart entered the southbound lanes of Maryland Route 210 from Jenkins Lane and into the path of the motorcycle, resulting in the collision.

Washington later died from injuries sustained in the crash, officials said. His daughter sustained injuries and remains under medical care. Her condition has not been released.

The driver of the Dodge Dart fled the scene on foot immediately following the crash. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Santamaria, initially fled but later returned to the scene and requested medical attention. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities have not released the identity of the driver of the Dodge Dart. Maryland State Police are actively seeking information regarding the driver’s whereabouts.

Maryland Route 210, also known as Indian Head Highway, is a major north-south corridor in Charles County that carries significant commuter and regional traffic between southern Maryland and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The intersection at Jenkins Lane serves as an access point for local traffic entering and exiting the highway.

Multiple lanes of Route 210 were closed for nearly three hours as emergency responders and investigators processed the scene. Personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration and deputies from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office assisted.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team continues to lead the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Anyone with information regarding the driver of the orange Dodge Dart is asked to contact Sergeant Justin Zimmerman at 301-392-1200 or via email at justin.zimmerman@maryland.gov.
