I’ve received at least 1,000 spoof email from rouge spammers claiming that “Twitter is going to start charging its customers,” but that is just a phishing scam, so when I heard that Facebook was going to start charging its users, I figured it was just another goof, but no, this time, it’s no laughing matter…

Facebook is testing a plan that would charge you $1 to message people, you don’t know…

(CNN) – How much would you pay to reach out to a stranger on Facebook?

The social networking site is testing out a plan to charge people to send messages to folks outside their network.

Most important messages go straight to your Facebook inbox. But there’s a second class of messages, including potential spam, that the site puts in the little-known “Other” folder.

The company will now allow people to avoid the dreaded “Other” folder and have their messages show up directly in the recipient’s inbox if they pay a fee.

According to All Things D, the cost to send one message that way will be a dollar.

In a post announcing the changes, Facebook points out that this could be helpful for people who want to contact someone about a job and that charging could also help cut down on unwanted spam.
