POINTE COUPEE, LA. (THECOUNT) — Kymber-Nichole Nezat has been identified as the pregnant ambulance driver killed after the ambulance she was operating struck a Coca-Cola delivery truck head-on in Pointe Coupée Parish, Louisiana on Tuesday.
Nezat, 28, was transporting patient, Albert Bordelon, 82, of Plaucheville, in an Acadian Ambulance, when the vehicle came into contact with a delivery truck Tuesday morning near Morganza.
According to reports, the ambulance was traveling on Morganza Highway near Deaton Lane, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle came into head-on contact with a Coca Cola delivery truck around 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Nezat died as a result of the crash. Information on the condition of her unborn child were not provided. Bordelon also died and another EMT was listed in critical condition.
The condition of the truck driver were not provided.
Further details of the cause of the wreck were not provided as of Thursday afternoon.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
“The Acadian family extends sympathies to the families of the victims and of the injured,” Acadian Ambulance said on Twitter.
A blood drive will be held at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and in Ascension from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., both on Wednesday.
