WINSTON COUNTY, AL. (THECOUNT) — Steven Michael Smith, of Haleyville, Alabama, has been identified as the victim in a Sunday evening fatal motorcycle crash in Winston County.
Steve Smith, 46, was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash near Haleyville late Sunday afternoon.
According to reports, Smith was operating a Honda Valkyrie motorcycle on Newburg Road in Haleyville, when for unknown reasons, the bike exited the roadway around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The bike then entered a culvert.
Smith was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
The investigation into the cause of the wreck is ongoing.
