JACKSON COUNTY, IA. (THECOUNT) — Tyler Schmidt, Sarah Schmidt and Lulu Schmidt, all of Cedar Falls, Iowa, have been identified as the victims in a triple-fatal murder in Jackson County, Iowa.
Tyler and Sarah, both 42, and Lulu, 6, were all shot dead Friday morning while inside their tent at Maquoketa Caves State Park in Maquoketa, Iowa.
23-year-old Anthony Sherwin, of La Vista, Nebraska, has been identified as the deceased suspect in the grisly murder of the family. He was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot injury at the scene.
It is unknown what relation, if any, Sherwin had to the family.
The motive is unknown.
The entire park was evacuated and remained closed throughout the day.
