ATHENS COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — Laiken Salyers of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and Richard Turner of East Orange, New Jersey, have been identified as the victims in a Sunday morning double-fatal vehicle crash in Athens County, Ohio.
Salyers, 23, and 20-year-old Turner, were both killed in a single-vehicle crash in Athens Township Sunday morning.
According to reports, the couple and Ohio University students were traveling in a vehicle on Dairy Lane near South Park Drive in Athens, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle lost control and rolled over into a creek. The vehicle then became partially submerged around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
