SOMERSET COUNTY, ME. (THECOUNT) — Michael S. Gilbert Jr, of Madison, Maine, has been identified as the victim in a Monday evening fatal two-vehicle motorcycle crash in Somerset County.
Gilbert, 27, was killed in a motorcycle-versus-car collision near Skowhegan Monday evening.
According to reports, Gilbert was operating a Victory Vegas motorcycle on Madison Avenue near Hanover Street in Skowhegan, when the bike came into contact with a Ford Focus, operated by Matthew Cortez.
Gilbert, who was ejected from the motorcycle during the collision, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash of blunt force trauma injuries.
It is unclear if the Focus driver was injured in the crash.
Officials did not provide information on if anyone was cited at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
