COLUMBUS, GA. (THECOUNT) — Orlando Carter Jr., of Columbus, Georgia, has been identified as the victim in a fatal east Columbus shooting.
Carter, 27, was shot on Huffman Dr, near Wesley Heights Elementary School, and transported to an area hospital via private vehicle, according to reports.
According to Major J.D. Hawk with the Columbus Police Department, the victim was taken to the St. Francis Hospital emergency room in a private vehicle, reports WTVM.
Carter’s body is being taken to Decatur for an autopsy on Monday.
The cause of death has not yet been officially determined.
The CPD Homicide Unit is taking over the case.
