Billionaire Founder Cirque du Soleil Guy Laliberté Arrested In Tahiti Sales Distribution Drugs

MONTREAL, CAN. (THECOUNT) — Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté has been detained on the island of Tahiti after being accused of growing Marijuana on his private island in French Polynesia.

Laliberté, 60, was arrested on suspicion of selling and distributing cannabis after his plane landed at the luxury island this week.

In a statement, Laliberté’s company, Lune Rouge, said that he grows and consumes the cannabis for medical reasons, but does not sell it, reports CBC.

It confirmed that he cultivates cannabis plants at his home on his private island, but it is for strictly personal use.
