ORILLIA, ON. (THECOUNT) — Matthew Schembri has been identified as the pedestrian involved in a fatal vehicle strike near Orillia early Sunday morning, according to reports.
Schembri, 21, was on-foot when he was struck by a vehicle while on Hwy. 11 near Big Chief Road just north of Orillia around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
Orillia OPP responded to calls of a man down on Highway 11 Sunday Morning. When they arrived, Schembri was found laying in the northbound lane of Hwy. 11.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated by County of Simcoe Paramedic Services, reports Simcoe.
