BATON ROUGE, LA. (THECOUNT) — Tyler Welch, of Ethel, Louisiana, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle collision in Baton Rouge Friday evening.
Welch, 25, died after a motorcycle he was operating crashed near the intersection of Coursey Boulevard and Stumberg Lane on Friday.
Detectives determined a vehicle operated by a 19-year-old female was traveling on Stumberg Lane when it came into contact with Welch’s motorcycle, which was traveling in the opposite direction.
Investigators believe the woman was attempting to perform a left hand when Welch accelerated into the inside travel lane when he struck the passenger side of the Honda, reports WAFB.
Welch was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
The female driver was not injured in the crash.
Speed is believed to be a factor in this crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
According to social media, Welch was a former 12B Combat Engineer for the U.S. Army. He worked at Eco-services on Airline Highway. He is originally from Scottsdale, Arizona, according to Facebook.
