MACON COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — William Shane Peterson, of Clinton, IL, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Friday night single-vehicle crash near Maroa, IL.
According to the Macon County Coroner, Peterson, 41, was operating a vehicle on Washington Street Rd. near Lake Fork Ln. west of Maroa, when his vehicle struck a drainage system and a pole before rolling over and catching fire.
Two victims became entrapped in the vehicle. Both were extricated and Peterson was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The other victim was transported to an area hospital. That individual’s condition was not provided.
The Macon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
