Genesis McCarter-Beretto has been identified as the young woman shot and killed at a Frederick High School after prom party.
The Montgomery County woman died and another person was injured, after 17-year-old Ean Davis-Lattimore opened fire at an after-prom party at a residence located in the 1800 block of Weybridge Road, Frederick, MD.
McCarter-Beretto, 18, was discovered by police after they say Davis-Lattimore opened fire just before 2 a.m. Sunday at the front door of the Frederick home.
Police say word of the party spread on social media and many others showed up who did not attend prom that night. Genesis McCarter-Berretto has died after she was shot early Sunday morning in Frederick.
Investigators say dozens of teens were at the house when an argument broke out. They say it spilled into the driveway and at that point, Davis-Lattimore, who was allegedly outside, shot back towards the front door. source
Police and EMS worked to save her, but the young woman died from her injuries. Investigators say a 13-year-old was also shot, but did not have serious injuries.
Police say McCarter-Berretto was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound in her upper body.
Police don’t believe McCarter-Berretto was the intended target.
