TX Teen Anthony Banda ID’d As Rider In Thursday Bryan Fatal Motorcycle Crash

BRYAN, TX. (THECOUNT) — Anthony Banda, of Bryan, Texas, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash Thursday night in Brazos County, according to the Bryan Police Department. Banda was 18.

The collision occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m. on May 7 along East State Highway 21 near Wallis Road and Crosswind Drive in Bryan.

Officers with the Bryan Police Department responded to reports of a major crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV along the highway corridor.

According to a preliminary investigation, the SUV was traveling westbound on East State Highway 21 and entered the center turn lane in preparation for a left turn onto Wallis Road.

Authorities said Banda was operating a motorcycle traveling eastbound on East State Highway 21 when he also entered the center turn lane while attempting to turn left onto Crosswind Drive.

Investigators said the motorcycle subsequently collided with the front portion of the SUV in the shared center lane area.

Banda sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel.

The driver of the SUV sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening and was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

Authorities have not publicly released the identity of the SUV driver.

Police stated that drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been contributing factors in the collision.

The intersection area involving East State Highway 21, Wallis Road, and Crosswind Drive serves as a heavily traveled traffic corridor within Bryan, carrying commuter and commercial traffic throughout the day and evening hours. The roadway includes multiple turn lanes and access points connecting residential and business areas in Brazos County.

Motorcycle crashes involving turning vehicles often require extensive reconstruction analysis as investigators examine lane positioning, vehicle speeds, roadway markings, visibility conditions, and impact evidence.

Emergency crews temporarily closed portions of the roadway Thursday night while officers documented evidence and processed the crash scene.

Traffic in the area was later reopened after investigators completed the on-scene portion of the investigation.

The Bryan Police Department confirmed the crash remains under active investigation.
