Teen Girl Questioned After Three Adults Found Dead Thursday In Tennessee Home

FAIRVIEW, N.C. (THECOUNT) — Travis Eugene Grant, 41, Kimberly Michelle Grant, 42, and Sharon Harwood Grant, 66, all of Fairview, North Carolina, have been identified as the victims found deceased Thursday evening inside a Buncombe County residence, according to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Travis and Kimberly Grant were married, and Sharon Grant was Travis Grant’s mother.

Deputies with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 7:15 p.m. Thursday to a residence located at 18 Ashworth Drive in Fairview after receiving a request for a welfare check.

According to officials, patrol deputies entered the home and discovered the three victims deceased inside the residence.

Authorities have not publicly released details regarding the causes or manner of death as investigators continue processing evidence and conducting interviews connected to the case.

Following the discovery, detectives learned that a 16-year-old girl who resided at the Ashworth Drive home was missing and unaccounted for, prompting an expanded investigation involving multiple agencies.

On Friday morning, authorities confirmed the teenage girl was located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, accompanied by an adult male.

Investigators with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office were traveling to Tennessee Friday as part of the ongoing investigation.

The sheriff’s office said assistance is being provided by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Gatlinburg Police Department.

Officials have not publicly disclosed the relationship between the teen and the male located with her in Tennessee.

The residence on Ashworth Drive remained an active crime scene Friday as investigators continued gathering evidence and attempting to reconstruct the events leading up to the deaths.

Fairview is an unincorporated community located southeast of Asheville in Buncombe County and is known for its rural residential areas and mountain communities. Law enforcement presence remained heavy in the area following the discovery.

Residents reported a large law enforcement response Thursday night as investigators secured the roadway and conducted interviews with nearby neighbors and individuals familiar with the family.

Misty Myers, who identified herself as a cousin of the couple living at the residence and said she lives nearby, described seeing deputies stopping vehicles and questioning residents along the roadway Thursday evening.

Authorities emphasized Friday that, despite the active investigation, there is no known threat to the public at this time.

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office stated additional information will be released as investigators are able to confirm further details.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
