TN Man Tyler Hite ID’d As Victim In Monday Fort Blackmore Fatal Motorcycle Crash

FORT BLACKMORE, VA. (THECOUNT) — Tyler S. Hite, 37, of Kingsport, Tennessee, was pronounced dead Monday following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Big Stoney Creek Road in Scott County, according to Virginia State Police.

Fort Blackmore is an unincorporated community in Scott County in southwestern Virginia, near the Tennessee border and the Kingsport area.

According to Virginia State Police spokesperson Matthew Demlein, the crash occurred on Big Stoney Creek Road near Methodist Camp Lane at approximately 5:15 p.m. Monday.

Hite was traveling southbound on a motorcycle when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, according to state police.

The motorcycle subsequently went over an embankment and struck a tree. Hite was pronounced dead at the crash scene.

State police said Hite was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The circumstances that caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway have not been released. Virginia State Police are investigating the fatal crash.

The investigation is being handled by state police, and additional details about the circumstances surrounding the collision had not been provided in the initial report.

The crash occurred along Big Stoney Creek Road in a rural portion of Scott County. Methodist Camp Lane was identified as the nearby roadway.

Hite was from Kingsport, a city in northeastern Tennessee located near the Virginia state line. Fort Blackmore is approximately 30 miles southwest of Kingsport.
