Post Op Transgender MMA Fighter: Fair To The Other Ladies?

Fallon Fox is the world’s first transgender MMA, can of whoop-ass! And you guys you know me! I have no problems with gay, lesbian, transgender, martians, you name it, i’m cool with it! No really! I AM! BUT BUT BUT, how can it be cool to allow a MMA fighter to fight women, who used to be a man?

We all know guys are built differently than girls! That’s a plain and simple fact of nature, so, is it fair to pit a one-time man against an all the time woman? Strength wise? Well one of Fox’s future female opponents, Allanna “Hands of Stones” Jones, thinks it’s straight-up wack!

Jones — who’s scheduled to fight Fox next month in Florida — tells TMZ, “It doesn’t matter what he [Fox] had changed … he was still born and developed a man.

Jones believes Fox’s participation in the sport will distract from the accomplishments of “real” female fighters, saying, “[WMMA] is just making a name for itself and this will have a negative impact on it.”

Worth noting … Fox is a postoperative transsexual who has undergone hormone therapy and has been living as a woman for years.

Any advantage she might have over other female fighters is debatable.

But despite claims it’s not a fair fight, Jones is still convinced she’ll wipe the floor with Fox — telling us, “I am not scared to fight him because I know I can win.” tmz

BTW, The MMA’s national governing licensing body, the Association of Boxing Commissions, states the following policy on trans fighters which was adopted last year by broadcasters;

The guidelines set clear definitions as to what constitutes a transsexual athlete (a transgender having undergone the surgeries necessary for anatomical change), as well as minimum requirements for the hormone therapy appropriate to their assigned sex to maintain competitive equity among the athlete pool. For instance, a female transgender athlete like Fallon would be required to produce medical documentation of the relevant surgeries and procedures she underwent during transition (it should be noted that it is not a requirement for the athlete to undergo complete gender assignment surgery), as well as detailed paperwork from a board certified endocrinologist or internist showing that she underwent hormone therapy for a minimum of two years following a gonadectomy and the levels have been within acceptable range for a female.
