A private funeral remembering filmmaker John Hughes was held in Lake Forest, Illinois. Hughes completed high school in Northbrook. Illinois was also the setting for many Hughes films, usually referring to the town as the fictitious Shermer.
Vince Vaughn, Ben Stein and Matthew Broderick attended as well as Hughes family and friends.

The mourners then gathered in a procession to a cemetery located in Lake Forest, where Hughes is to be buried.
