Sources say Kanye West was transported to a LA hospital and is currently “under observation” late Monday after a bizarre series of rants and the abrupt cancellation of his national tour.
The hospital stay followed a week of strange incidents during which the rapper publicly threw shade at Beyoncé and Jay Z and retroactively endorsed President-elect Donald Trump while admitting that he didn’t bother to vote.
A source familiar with the case said Los Angeles police responded to a medical welfare call about 1:20 p.m. (4:20 p.m. ET). No criminal activity was involved; the decision to hospitalize West was for his own health and safety, the sources said. West’s concert promoter, Live Nation, said earlier in the day that the remaining dates of his Saint Pablo Tour had been called off. No reason was given. The cancellation of West’s tour comes on the heels of a rough week for the rapper, who has made controversial statements and feuds with fellow celebrities a centerpiece of his art and persona. David Mueller, the former radio host of “Ryno and Jackson” on Denver’s KYGO, has filed a lawsuit against Taylor Swift, claiming she falsely accused him of groping her two years ago. Swift’s claim cost the 20-year radio veteran his $150,000 a year job.
The incident took place in mid 2013, when Mueller was meeting Swift backstage for a photo op at the Pepsi Center. Mueller and his girlfriend posed with Swift for a photo, and Swift thanked the couple and left, according to the suit.
The suit says Mueller was later approached by a member of Swift’s security team, who accused Mueller of touching Swift inappropriately, and was then escorted out through an exit door. Continue reading
