OR Woman Jean Gerich ID’d As Victim In Monday Portland Intentional Mass Hit-And-Run

PORTLAND, OR. (THECOUNT) — Jean Gerich, of Portland, Oregon, has been identified as the fatality in a Monday hit-and-run involving 10 different victims in southeast Portland.

Gerich, 77, was struck and killed Monday by a suspect who who was apprehended and remained in the hospital Tuesday. Police say the suspect’s actions showed intent to hit and injure people.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner determined Gerich died of blunt force trauma and ruled her death a homicide.

Investigators said the crime scene covered the area between Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard and Southeast 15th Avenue, from East Burnside Street to Southeast Belmont Street.

Gerich’s family was notified and released photos of her Tuesday, along with a statement.

“Jean Gerich was not a nameless victim. She was a loving mother of two. She was a proud grandmother of five, ages 4 to 16. She would have turned 78 in twelve days. She beat cancer five years ago. She received her first vaccination shot last week and was overjoyed to get out in the world again. She has lived in the city of Portland since 1972 and for those 48 years she has loved her community of friends, Forest Park, and the proximity to nature,” according to Gerich’s family.

Police provided an update on the victims in this case. Two were bicyclists and seven others were pedestrians. One victim, due to head trauma, could not recall if they were in or out of their vehicle when they were hit by the suspect, according to Fox12.

NBA All-Star Cliff Robinson Dead At 53

PORTLAND, OR. (THECOUNT) — Former NBA All-Star and Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors and New Jersey Nets player, Cliff Robinson has died. He was 53.

The 1993 Sixth Man of the Year died, the UConn Huskies confirmed Saturday.

Portland Woman Angelina Volobuev Arrested In Fatal Stabbing Of Mother ‘Lengthy Arrest Record’

CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR. (THECOUNT) — Angelina Volobuev, of Portland, Oregon has been identified as the suspect arrested and charged in connection with the stabbing death of her mother, 61-year-old Nadezhda Volobuev in Clackamas County on Friday.

Angelina Volobuev, 30, who was charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon in the stabbing death of her mother, has a lengthy arrest record going back to 2011, ranging from multiple heroin charges to theft.

According to reports, Nadezhda Volobuev was found suffering from apparent fatal stab wounds on Friday, just after 9 a.m. in the 16300 block of Southeast Foster Road after police responded to reports of an injured person.

WA Man Kevin Taylor ID’d As Victim In Friday Vancouver Fatal Motorcycle Crash

CLARK COUNTY, WA. (THECOUNT) — Kevin Taylor, of Woodland, Washington, has been identified as the victim in a single-motorcycle crash in Clark County Friday night.

Taylor, 23, was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday night near Vancouver.

According to reports, Taylor was operating a motorcycle on Northeast 137th Avenue near NE 99th street in Vancouver, when the bike came into contact with a concrete slab located at the end of the roadway. The bike then burst into flames.

Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force and thermal injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

OR Man Ivan Cam Arrested In Tuesday Portland Fatal DUI Pedestrian Strike

PORTLAND, OR. (THECOUNT) — Ivan Cam, of Portland, Oregon, has been identified as the DUI suspect arrested following the fatal vehicle strike of a pedestrian Tuesday morning.

Cam, 30, was arrested Tuesday morning after being accused of fatally striking a pedestrian who died early Tuesday morning in southwest Portland, according to police.

The deadly incident occurred on Southwest Barbur Boulevard and Southwest Parkhill Drive around 12″40 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Cam told officers that he struck a pedestrian and thought the person was dead, according to reports.

Officers located the victim lying in the middle of the road. The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Police said Cam cooperated with the investigation, reports KPTV.

According to police, Cam was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol), reckless driving, and second-degree manslaughter.

Nashville Man Brock Dorman ID’d As Victim In Wednesday Fatal Wilson County I-40 Crash

WILSON COUNTY, TN. (THECOUNT) — Brock Dalton Dorman has been identified as the Nashville, Tennessee man killed in a crash involving a big rig near Wilson County Wednesday afternoon, according to reports.

Dorman, 26, was killed when the van he was operating rear-ended a semi-tractor that was stopped in slow-moving Interstate 40 traffic near Portland Wednesday afternoon.

The fatal crash occurred on I-40 eastbound near the Highway 109 exit after Dorman rear-ended an 18-wheeler. A police report noted seeing no skid marks generated by the victim’s vehicle, indicating no effort was made to stop.

Dorman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the violent crash, according to troopers.

The driver of the semi truck was not injured, the crash report stated, reports WKRN.

The crash remains under investigation.

Family Says Missing U Of Portland Student Owen Klinger Body Pulled From Willamette River Sunday

PORTLAND, OR. (THECOUNT) — Owen Klinger, the missing University of Portland student has been identified as the body recovered from the Willamette River in northwest Portland on Sunday afternoon, according to family members.

The Portland Police Bureau reported Monday that the body was found in the area of the 9400 block of Northwest St. Helens Road near the St. Johns Bridge at 12:57 p.m. Sunday.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office River Patrol Unit recovered the body and turned it over to the medical examiner, reports KPTV.

Police did not release the identity of the body or any further details, but Klinger’s family issued a statement Monday evening saying they have been contacted by officers.

“Portland police have notified us that they have recovered a body that we believe is our son, Owen Klinger. We deeply appreciate the extraordinary effort and support that thousands of people have provided over the past two weeks. We now ask for privacy as we move forward with our healing process,” according to a family statement.

Klinger was last seen on the University of Portland campus leaving Christie Hall on Oct. 6.

‘Multiple’ Victims Reported In Friday Afternoon Portland Shooting

PORTLAND, OR. (THECOUNT) — Police are investigating a mass shooting in northeast Portland on Friday.

Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 6200 block of Northeast 42nd Avenue at 2:07 p.m. Friday.

Officers said multiple victims were found at the scene. The scene was secured to facilitate medical attention for the victims, reports KPTV.

Their conditions of those injured is not known.

Police said no arrests have been made and no suspect information was immediately available to be released.

ME Man Wayne Harwood Dies In Hospital After Struck On Skateboard In Weds Portland Hit-And-Run

PORTLAND, ME. (THECOUNT) — Wayne Harwood, the Portland, Maine man struck while riding a skateboard this week, has died in the hospital from his injuries, according to Maine officials Saturday.

Harwood, 25, was traveling on a skateboard when he was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run on Cumberland Avenue, near Avon Street on Wednesday.

Harwood was transported to an area hospital where he passed away Friday night. His family has been notified, according to ProvidenceJournal.

He was listed in critical condition throughout the week.

The driver involved in the collision fled the scene.

Police are looking for a white sedan with damage to the passenger side. A dispatcher for the Portland Police Department on Saturday said there were no updates in the search for the vehicle.

Portland Police Asking Public’s Help Identifying Man Involved In Violent June 29 Downtown Protest

PORTLAND, OR. (THECOUNT) — Portland, Oregon police are asking for the public’s help in identifying an individual involved in an assault during the downtown Portland demonstrations June 29.

By the time the violence ended, at least eight people were treated by medics, including three police officers. Three people were hospitalized during the downtown march.

Officers report people in the crowd brandished weapons, including collapsible batons and firearms.

The suspect wanted in the assault was wearing a mask and has a neck tattoo, according to police. The man in photos shared by law enforcement has blond hair and a nose piercing.
