Ohio State Buckeyes Amir Riep Jahsen Wint Arrested Tuesday On Rape Kidnapping Charges

COLUMBUS, OH. (THECOUNT) — Ohio State students and football players, Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint, were arrested Tuesday night and charged with rape and kidnapping, according to Franklin County municipal court records.

Riep and Wint, both 21, are currently in police custody and face charges of rape by threat of force and kidnapping to engage in sexual activity.

According to court records the alleged crimes happened on February 4, 2020, reports WKYC.

Both men are seniors.

The University issued the following statement following their arrests.

“We are aware that two of our students have been arrested and criminally charged. They have been suspended from all activities involving the football program. We will share more information when available.”

Active Shooter Firing At Officers In Monday Columbus OH Barricade Situation

COLUMBUS. OH. (THCOUNT) — Columbus police are reporting shots have been fired at officers and a man has barricaded himself inside a home near Eakin Road Monday afternoon.

According to police, a unidentified man is firing at officers in the area.

Columbus SWAT units and hostage negotiators are on scene, reports 10TV.

There is no information on any injuries at this time.

OH Man Baird McCarty ID’d As Pedestrian In Saturday Night Fatal Columbus I-70 Hit-And-Run

COLUMBUS, OH. (THECOUNT) — Ohio man, Baird McCarty has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck by a hit-and-run vehicle Saturday night in Columbus, according to Sunday reports.

McCarty, 53, was killed after being struck by a vehicle in west Columbus on Saturday night.

Columbus police say they responded to reports of a man down around 8:45 p.m. Saturday night.

When they arrived they discovered a pedestrian down and injured on I-70 eastbound at Hilliard Rome Road.

Investigators say two vehicles became disabled and stopped in the median of the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70. McCarty exited his vehicle when he was struck by another vehicle.

That vehicle then fled the scene.

McCarty’s last known address was 3724 Kimberly West Dr., in Columbus, OH.

McCarty was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of multiple blunt for injuries.

Authorities are looking for a white car, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu or similar body style. The car will have fresh front damage, reports 10TV.

GA Horror Quadruple Homicide Unfolding Overnight In Columbus ‘Family Violence’

COLUMBUS, GA. (THECOUNT) — Travane Brandon Jackson has been identified as the suspect arrested in a grisly quadruple homicide at Elizabeth Canty Apartments, in Columbus, Georgia last night.

Jackson was taken into custody and charged with four counts of family violence in the murder of 29-year-old woman, Jerrica Spellman, and her three young children.

All the victims were stabbed to death near 20th Avenue and Cusseta Road.

CPD is working to confirm Jackson’s relationship to the three children killed, but he is believed to be their father, reports WTMV.

The children reportedly range in age from less than a year old to 3-years-old.

Police say they are not looking for any further suspects at this time.

Dead Body Found Saturday Inside Freezer At Columbus GA Piggly Wiggly

COLUMBUS, GA. (THECOUNT) — Georgia authorities are investigating after a human body was discovered deceased in the freezer area of a columbus Piggly Wiggly store on Saturday.

Authorities confirmed a dead body was located at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store located at, 2424 Woodruff Farm Rd, in Columbus, GA.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan confirms one human body was found in a freezer at the grocery store this morning, reports Live5News.

It is not yet clear if foul play is suspected.

The identity of the body is being withheld while officials work to contact next of kin.

Body Of Missing OH Activist, Amber Evans, Pulled Saturday From Columbus Scioto River

COLUMBUS, OH. (THECOUNT) — Amber Evans has been identified as the body recovered Saturday from the Scioto River, in Columbus, Ohio.

In January, Evans, 28, was reported missing by her family after she left a meeting near downtown. Her car was later found abandoned on Belle Street, near the Scioto River.

Since January, several local search parties and rallies have been held to help find Evans, with no success. Her mother and father both declined comment through a family friend on Saturday, and said they were waiting for an official identification on the body before saying anything further, reports ABC6OnYourSide.

The Saturday morning search was a joint effort with members of the Columbus Police Special Victims Bureau, working with the Columbus Police Dive team. The teams worked in the area of the Whittier Street peninsula. The Franklin County Coroner’s office was called in to work with the detectives.

A cause of death was not provided.

OH Teens Veronica Madison Lee, Loren F.T. Williamson, ID’d As Victim In Apparent Columbus Murder-Suicide

COLUMBUS, OH. (THECOUNT) — Veronica Madison Lee and Loren F.T. Williamson have been identified as the two teenage victims in an apparent murder-suicide in Columbus, Ohio on Friday.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired after 10:30 p.m. Friday to the 4000 block of Raft Lane in southeast Columbus, WHIO reported Saturday.

Arriving officers discovered Madison and Williamson, both 19, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds in an upstairs bedroom of a dwelling on Raft Lane.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot injuries.

Columbus police said they were involved in a relationship, and that evidence at the scene indicates that Williamson shot and killed Lee before taking his own life, WHIO reported.

Friday GA Castle Gate Windsor Park Apts Shooting Victim ID’d As Columbus Man John Wells, Jr

COLUMBUS, GA. (THECOUNT) — John Wells, Jr. has been identified as the victim of an early Friday morning shooting in Columbus, Georgia.

Wells, 55, was found suffering from at least one gunshot injury Friday morning at an apartment complex in Columbus, after police were summoned on a call of shots fired.

Upon arrival, police discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds just after midnight at the Castle Gate Windsor Park Apartments, located in the 3700 block of Bridgewater Rd., according to the Muscogee County Deputy coroner.

Investigators say the shooting may have stemmed from a domestic dispute.

An unidentified second victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Their condition was not provided.

Oh Man Johnny Schmittauer ID’d As Victim In Thursday Fatal Lewis Center Crash

DELAWARE COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — John D. Schmittauer, of Columbus, OH, has been identified as the victim in a fatal South Old State Road, Lewis Center crash on Thursday.

“Johnny” Schmittauer, 23, was operating a 2009 Honda Civic northbound on S Old State Road, in Lewis Center, OH, at around 11:15 p.m., Thursday, when for unknown reasons, exited the roadway, struck a mailbox and flipped over into a ditch, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers.

Schmittauer was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the crash.

OH Body Found Along Columbus I-70 Tuesday Identified “Not Struck By Vehicle”

COLUMBUS, OH. (THECOUNT) — Robert Coleman has been identified as the body found along I-70 Tuesday morning.

Columbus Police say 42-year-old Coleman wasn’t killed by a car driving on the interstate but they are still trying to learn how the body ended up on the roadway.
