COLUMBUS, OH. (THECOUNT) — Maxine Ohakim, 36, has been identified as the woman who died after a single-vehicle crash on Columbus’ east side early Saturday morning.
Columbus police said the fatal crash occurred around 3:03 a.m. when a white Honda CR-V was entering the Interstate 270 northbound ramp from East Main Street.

For reasons that remain under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a light pole.
Ohakim was the driver and sole occupant of the Honda, according to police.
Emergency crews responded to the crash and transported Ohakim to a local hospital in critical condition. She later died from injuries sustained in the collision.
Police have not released additional information concerning what caused the Honda to leave the roadway.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash, including the events immediately before the vehicle entered the ramp and struck the light pole.
The collision occurred during the early-morning hours, when traffic volumes are typically lower, but authorities have not indicated whether roadway, vehicle or other factors contributed to the crash.
No additional injuries were reported in connection with the collision.
The crash remains under investigation by the Columbus Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit.
