CLEVELAND, TN. (THECOUNT) — Holly Jarrett, 68, and her husband, Stanley Jarrett, 66, were found dead Wednesday afternoon inside their Cleveland, Tennessee, residence in what investigators believe was an apparent murder-suicide, according to the Cleveland Police Department.
Cleveland is located in Bradley County in southeastern Tennessee, approximately 30 miles northeast of Chattanooga. Officers responded to a residence on Barker Lane NW after receiving a report that prompted a welfare check and investigation.
According to the Cleveland Police Department, officers arrived at the home at approximately 3:25 p.m. Wednesday and discovered the married couple deceased inside the residence.
Investigators said preliminary evidence indicates Holly Jarrett died from a single gunshot wound.
Police said Stanley Jarrett died from what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities stated that, based on evidence collected at the scene, investigators believe the incident was isolated.
“Based on the evidence collected at the scene, investigators believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public,” the Cleveland Police Department said in a statement.
Officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the deaths.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing and that no further information will be released at this time out of respect for the family.
