LOUISVILLE, KY. (THECOUNT) — Kevin D. Moore, 45, has been charged with murder and DUI following a deadly Monday evening crash at a bus stop along Dixie Highway in Shively that left one woman dead and multiple others injured, according to police.
The collision occurred around 7:55 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Dixie Highway and Rockford Lane in the Louisville suburb of Shively.
According to Shively police spokesperson Sgt. Jordan Brown, five people were at or near the bus stop when the crash took place.
Authorities said a woman seated at the bus stop was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have not yet publicly released the identity of the deceased victim.
Police said another woman injured in the crash was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A third female victim was also hospitalized and remains in critical condition, according to investigators.
Two additional individuals at the bus stop sustained minor injuries.
Authorities said Moore was identified as the driver of one of the involved vehicles and was subsequently arrested following the collision.
In addition to murder and DUI charges, Moore faces assault, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, and multiple traffic-related charges.
Moore was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections and is expected to be arraigned Wednesday, May 27.
The crash scene near Dixie Highway and Rockford Lane remained active Monday evening as investigators documented evidence and crews cleared debris from the roadway.
Dixie Highway is a major thoroughfare through southwest Jefferson County and experiences heavy daily commuter traffic through Shively and surrounding Louisville neighborhoods.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding what led up to the crash or how the involved vehicle struck the bus stop area.
The Shively Police Department investigation remains ongoing.
