WA Teen Evan Johnson ID’d As Rider In Monday Puyallup Fatal Motorcycle Crash

PUYALLUP, WASH. (THECOUNT) — Evan Johnson, of Sumner, Washington, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash Monday afternoon in Puyallup, according to the Washington State Patrol. Johnson was 19.

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. Monday near the intersection of East Pioneer Way and State Route 512 in Puyallup, located in Pierce County south of Seattle.

Troopers with the Washington State Patrol responded to the scene following reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck.

According to investigators, Johnson was operating a 2014 Honda CBR650 motorcycle traveling eastbound when the crash occurred.

Authorities said Johnson attempted to change lanes near the intersection of East Pioneer Way and Highway 512 before striking a white 2023 Chevrolet Silverado.

The impact caused critical injuries to Johnson, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Washington State Patrol confirmed Johnson was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Officials stated alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been contributing factors in the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado remained at the scene following the collision, according to investigators.

Authorities have not publicly released additional details regarding injuries to the Silverado driver or whether any passengers were involved.

The intersection of East Pioneer Way and State Route 512 is located within a heavily traveled corridor connecting portions of Pierce County, including Puyallup, Sumner, and surrounding communities.

State Route 512 serves as a major highway link between Interstate 5 and State Route 167 and carries significant commuter traffic through the Tacoma metropolitan area.

Emergency responders remained at the scene Monday afternoon while troopers documented evidence, examined the damaged Honda motorcycle and Chevrolet pickup, and coordinated traffic control operations.

Traffic in the area was affected for a period of time during the on-scene investigation.

Washington State Patrol investigators have not publicly announced whether speed may have contributed to the crash.

Authorities also have not released additional information regarding the exact lane positions or traffic conditions immediately before the collision occurred.

No additional vehicles were reported involved in the incident.

The fatal crash remains under active investigation by the Washington State Patrol.

No further information was immediately released.
