MI Man Cody Terbush ID’d As Driver In Sunday Rochester Hills Fatal Crash

ROCHESTER HILLS, MICH. (THECOUNT) — Cody Scott Terbush, of Troy, Michigan, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Rochester Hills, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. Terbush was 35.

The deadly collision occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday, May 10, along eastbound M-59 near Livernois Road in Oakland County.

Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene following reports of a serious crash involving a single passenger vehicle.

According to investigators, Terbush was operating a 2006 Mazda 3 traveling eastbound on M-59 when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle while approaching a curve in the roadway.

Authorities said the vehicle failed to negotiate the curve, exited the roadway, and struck a guardrail.

The impact ejected Terbush from the Mazda, investigators confirmed.

Officials with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office stated Terbush was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel.

No additional vehicles were reported involved in the incident.

The crash occurred near the Livernois Road corridor in Rochester Hills, a suburban community located in northern Oakland County approximately 25 miles north of downtown Detroit.

M-59, also known as the Veteran’s Memorial Highway in portions of Michigan, serves as a major east-west transportation route through Oakland County and carries significant overnight commuter and regional traffic.

Authorities said investigators believe excessive speed may have contributed to the crash.

Officials have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has not publicly released additional details regarding the sequence of events immediately preceding the crash.

Emergency responders remained at the scene Sunday morning while investigators documented evidence, examined the damaged vehicle, and coordinated removal operations along the highway.

Traffic in the area was affected for a period of time during the on-scene investigation.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation into the fatal collision.

Crash reconstruction investigations typically involve detailed examinations of roadway evidence, vehicle damage, scene measurements, and other physical evidence gathered from the location of the crash.

Authorities have not announced whether weather or roadway surface conditions may have contributed to the incident.

No additional injuries were reported.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
