SC Woman Madison Palmer ID’d As Pedestrian In Friday NC Fatal Vehicle Strike

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (THECOUNT) — Madison Palmer, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a fatal pedestrian crash Friday night near Lake Norman in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Palmer was 27.

The collision occurred along Highway 150 near Emerald Isle Drive in Catawba County, a region located northwest of Charlotte along the Lake Norman corridor.

Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene after receiving reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash along the highway.

According to investigators, a Jeep Liberty was traveling eastbound on Highway 150 when it struck Palmer, who was reportedly in the roadway at the time of the collision.

Palmer sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel, authorities said.

The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators following the crash.

Investigators stated they do not believe speed or impairment on the part of the driver contributed to the collision.

Authorities indicated Palmer may have been impaired at the time of the incident, though officials have not released additional details pending the ongoing investigation.

No charges have been filed in connection with the crash as investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Highway 150 is a heavily traveled roadway serving portions of Catawba County and the Lake Norman region, carrying both local and commuter traffic throughout the day and nighttime hours. The corridor includes residential access points, commercial traffic routes, and areas with limited pedestrian infrastructure in certain sections.

Pedestrian collisions occurring along high-speed roadways frequently require extensive reconstruction analysis as investigators examine visibility conditions, roadway lighting, vehicle speeds, impact evidence, and witness statements.

Emergency responders temporarily impacted traffic in the area Friday night while troopers documented evidence and processed the crash scene.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed the investigation remains active and ongoing.
