Rodeo Star Connor McKell Held Without Bail On 15 Felony Sex Charges

PROVO, UT. (THECOUNT) — Connor McKell, a 27-year-old professional rodeo steer wrestler, is being held without bail in the Utah County Jail following his arrest on multiple felony charges, according to court records.

McKell was arrested Jan. 18 at his residence in Springville, Utah, and booked on 15 counts of first-degree felony object rape, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count of unlawful detention. Each charge includes a domestic violence enhancement.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Springville police officers responded to a hospital after an adult woman reported she had been assaulted earlier that night.

The woman told investigators she had gone to McKell’s residence and believed he was intoxicated at the time of the encounter.

Police said the woman reported the interaction initially began consensually but later told McKell she wanted it to stop. Investigators allege McKell continued despite her objections and used force that caused pain and injuries.

According to court documents, the woman eventually contacted friends for assistance and left the residence.

A sexual assault nurse examiner documented injuries that investigators said were consistent with the woman’s account. Friends who saw her shortly afterward reported observing visible marks on her neck, according to the affidavit.

Police later obtained a search warrant for McKell’s residence and arrested him.

After being advised of his rights, McKell told investigators the encounter was consensual and acknowledged consuming alcohol beforehand. Officers noted what they described as inconsistencies in his statements, court records indicate.

McKell remains in custody at the Utah County Jail. Court records show he is being held without bail.
