LONDON, UK (THECOUNT.COM) — Barron Trump, 19, the youngest son of President Donald Trump, is being credited with helping save a woman from a violent assault in London after contacting police during a live video call, according to testimony presented at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Court proceedings revealed that Barron was in the United States when he received a FaceTime call from a woman he knew through social media. During the call, he allegedly witnessed MMA fighter and Russian national Matvei Rumiantsev, 22, physically assaulting the woman inside a flat in east London.
Prosecutors said Rumiantsev became enraged earlier in the evening after unsuccessfully attempting to contact the woman. When Barron called her phone later, Rumiantsev allegedly answered, showed the woman’s face on camera, then grabbed her hair, pushed her to the floor, and began striking her while shouting verbal abuse.
Barron immediately worked to determine how to contact British emergency services from abroad and ultimately placed a call to the City of London Police. Jurors heard audio of the emergency call during the trial.
According to the prosecution, Rumiantsev repeatedly punched and kicked the woman, including kicking her in the stomach while she lay on the floor. Police later reported that the woman said she had been slapped, punched, kicked, and strangled.
Responding officers arrived at the Poplar address in the early hours following multiple emergency calls, including one placed directly by Barron. Body-worn camera footage showed the woman identifying Barron Trump as the person who alerted police. One officer was heard remarking that the informant “from America is likely to be Donald Trump’s son.”
Barron later explained to officers that he could see the woman crying and being struck during the FaceTime call and said he believed calling police was the safest option. “I wasn’t going to threaten him,” Barron said, according to testimony. “That would just make the situation worse.”
The woman told the court that Barron’s actions likely saved her life. “That call was like a sign from God at that moment,” she testified.
Rumiantsev has been charged with two counts of rape, assault, actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, and perverting the course of justice. Prosecutors allege he later attempted to pressure the woman into withdrawing her statement while in custody. He denies all charges. The trial remains ongoing.
