KY Teen Zachary Snyder ID’d As Victim In Sunday Hebron Fatal Crash

HEBRON, KY. (THECOUNT) — Zachary Snyder died in a single-vehicle crash late Sunday night in Hebron, Boone County, Kentucky, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. He was 16.

The crash occurred around 10:34 p.m. on Bullittsville Road. Deputies say Snyder, of Burlington, was a front-seat passenger in a 2015 Honda Accord at the time of the collision.

According to investigators, the 17-year-old driver failed to navigate a sharp right-hand curve while traveling on Bullittsville Road. Authorities say the vehicle crossed the centerline, and the driver then overcorrected. The car subsequently traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck several trees, and overturned.

Deputies reported that Snyder was ejected from the vehicle during the crash sequence and became trapped underneath the overturned car. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officials.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office stated that the driver and two backseat passengers — a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old — were able to exit the overturned vehicle without assistance. Emergency responders transported all three individuals to area hospitals for treatment. Their injuries were described by authorities as non-life-threatening.

Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash. Deputies also noted that neither the driver nor Snyder were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident. Officials have not indicated whether impairment or other contributing factors are suspected as part of the ongoing investigation.

Bullittsville Road, where the crash occurred, is a roadway that runs through portions of Boone County and connects rural and residential areas within the Hebron community. The area is part of the broader northern Kentucky region, which includes communities that border the Ohio River and sit just southwest of Cincinnati, Ohio. The roadway was closed for several hours Sunday night as deputies and emergency personnel worked at the scene and conducted an initial investigation into the crash.

Authorities said the closure was necessary to allow the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team to document evidence, assess vehicle positioning, and evaluate roadway conditions. The team is tasked with determining the precise sequence of events that led to the crash, including speed, vehicle dynamics, and driver response to the roadway curve.

As of Monday, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation remains active. No charges have been announced, and no additional identifying information regarding the other occupants has been released.

Officials have not released further details at this time, including whether additional safety factors or mechanical issues may have played a role in the collision. The findings of the Accident Reconstruction Team are expected to provide more clarity as the investigation progresses.
