EDMONSON COUNTY, KY. (THECOUNT) — Melissa Sargent, 38, of Charleston, South Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle accident in Edmonson County, Kentucky.
Kentucky State Police reported that the crash occurred Thursday around 9:00 p.m. on Louisville Road near Smiths Grove.
The investigation revealed that Sargent was driving a 2017 Lexus south on Louisville Road when the vehicle crossed the northbound lanes and exited the roadway. Sargent was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene by the Edmonson County Coroner’s Office.
Trooper Landon Key is leading the ongoing investigation.
Edmonson County is a county located in the south central portion of the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 12,126. Its county seat and only municipality is Brownsville.
