EAU CLAIRE, WI. (THECOUNT) — Payton Leisz, 18, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash in Eau Claire on Thursday.
Around 5:00 p.m., Leisz was traveling west on W. Clairemont Avenue near American Boulevard when his motorcycle collided with an SUV that was turning left onto Clairemont from a frontage road.
Leisz was tragically killed in the crash.
The driver of the SUV was hospitalized with unknown injuries but is expected to recover.
The Eau Claire Police Department is investigating the incident, but no charges have been filed at this time.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Eau Claire is a city in Eau Claire and Chippewa counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It is the county seat of Eau Claire County. It had a population of 69,421 in 2020, making it the state’s eighth-most populous city.
