MCLEAN COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — Cory Geist, of Phoenix, Arizona, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday fatal vehicle crash in McLean County, Illinois.
Geist, 25, was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor early Wednesday morning.
According to reports, Geist was operating a GMC Box Truck on Interstate 55 in McLean County, when the vehicle rear ended a big-rig around 1:50 a.m. Wednesday.
Geist, who had ties to Illinois, was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the collision.
The driver of the semi, a 39-year-old man from Salt Lake City, is facing charges including violating minimum speed regulations, failure to yield to merging traffic and improper lane usage.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
