BARBOUR COUNTY, AL (THECOUNT) — Quawanna Quasheima Wigham, of Fort Mitchell, Alabama, and Christopher Wood Caple, of Clayton, Alabama, have been identified as the victims in a Tuesday vehicle-versus-deer collision in Barbour County.
Wigham, 26, and 28-year-old Caple, were both killed in an early Wednesday single-vehicle crash involving an animal in the roadway near Clayton.
According to reports, Caple was operating a Chevrolet Camaro on Highway 30 east of Clayton, when the vehicle came into contact with a deer. The vehicle then exited the roadway and entered a culvert before hitting a tree. The vehicle then rolled over.
Wigham, a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
Caple was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
